Out to the Orchard

Spending time with children is usually not my favorite. Let’s be honest. But these days, it is getting harder and harder to get away from children, as more and more of the people in my life have them. And at times, I even find myself wanting them and all of the cute things they do. So in embrace of this new urge to spend time with children, I wanted to take our nephews to the punkin patch!

At Robinette’s

Well we couldn’t find one that wasn’t forever away. So we settled for Robinette’s instead. Last fall, I stopped out there with Sue, Jon, and Tina for some wine tasting and donut eating and realized just how much there is to do.

We started with hot apple cider and donuts, scrutinized the array of pumpkins for just the right ones (including an upcoming cheesy craft project), and got lost in the corn maze for about 30 minutes. However, the highlight of the day was clearly the 45 minutes Kaden spent running up this little wooden platform to slide down the most anti-climatic slide possible. And yet, you would have thought this was the most exciting event ever! Again, and again, and again, and again. He slid down with his mom. Slid down by himself. Slid down with a little girl. Slid down when he accidentally fell trying to walk up it. Then he cried when it was time to go.

The Infamous Slide

I know I hear parents say that all the time, how young children are amused by the smallest things and beg, “Again! Again!” Well, I guess it really is true. The only downside to the day was that Kolten slept *the entire time* only just waking up for pictures right before they left. Cannot wait until this baby is actually awake!

Baby Kolten finally awake!
